Les and I climbed Wetterhorn Peak in mid-July. We took the less traveled northwest approach from just east of Courthouse Mountain through Wetterhorn Basin, which was very fun, though it was a little early for wild flowers. Some snow fields made for tricky, slippery ascents, with nice standing glissades on the return.
Approaching the saddle below Coxcomb Peak
and looking back
before dropping into Wetterhorn Basin (that's Wetterhorn on the left).
Some pretty flowers...most weren't yet blooming due to the heavy late snows.
The peak from another saddle on the other side of the basin. Our route climbed just above the snow fields to the gully left of the snow filled couloir.
Les enjoying the scramble.
Looking back at Wetterhorn Basin
and up at some squeaky marmots
who later guarded the summit register.
